Type locality: Cap de Bonne Espérance (Cape of Good Hope, South Africa)

Nomeclatural status: Senior homonym of Agama aspera Werner, 1893 and junior subjective synonym of Agama hispida (Linnaeus, 1758) . The taxon name Agama aspera Daudin, 1802 is available for nomenclatural purposes.
