Setodes Rambur
Setodes Rambur 1842, 515; type species Setodes punctellus Rambur (selected by Milne 1934, 18).
Adults of Japanese species of Setodes spp. may be distinguished from those of other genera of Leptoceridae with characters provided by Tsuda 1942b, Tanida, 2005, and Nozaki 2016.
The larvae of Japanese Setodes spp. are distinguishable from those of other leptocerid genera by the presence of sclerotized, spiny anal prolegs (Tanida, 2005). The larval stages of the following species belonging to this genus have been described in Japan: S. argentatus Matsumura 1907 by Kuwayama (1934), S. minutus (as Setode s sp. SA) by Akagi (1957), and Setodes sp. SB by Tsuda & Akagi (1962).
In the pupal stage, only S. argentatus has been described in Japan (Kuwayama 1934).
