The type specimens of both nominal species present the same characters given by Kulzer (1955) in his key of Emmallodera and description of E. obesa costata and by Marcuzzi (1977) in his description of E. ceii (Figs. 16–17): pronotum with posterior margin same width than anterior margin, lateral margins feebly raised, anterior angles and posterior angles obtuse; each elytron with six carinae on dorsal surface (the seventh carina represents the lateral margin) formed by protuberances in alignment and fused, the three external carinae more evident, intercostal spaces concave, with punctures.
