" Purpurella nobilis R. D."
A male of Myopa dorsalis Fabricius, 1794 . The specimen is well preserved.
The specimen bears the following labels: (1) "M. / nobilis / & / coll. Big." [round, white label]; (2) Purpurella / nobilis R. D." [lightblue label]; (3) " Syntype " [printed, white label].
This specimen was determined and labelled by RobineauDesvoidy, and is evidently a syntype of Purpurella nobilis RobineauDesvoidy, 1853: 118 119. Since this specimen appears to be the only known syntype of Purpurella nobilis it is herewith designated lectotype and the following label has been added: " Lectotypus / Purpurella nobilis / Robineau Desvoidy, 1853 / des. Stuke & Clements, 2005" [red label, printed].
Chvála & Smith (1988) interpreted this species as a "doubtful species of Myopa ." However, on the basis of the present specimen Purpurella nobilis RobineauDesvoidy, 1853 can now be placed as a junior synonym of Myopa dorsalis Fabricius, 1794 [syn. nov.].
