" Pictina fulvipalpis R. D."

A female of Myopa extricata Collin, 1960 . The right middle leg is missing, but otherwise the specimen is well preserved.

The specimen bears the following labels: (1) "M. / fulvipalpis / coll. Big." [round, white label]; (2) "Pictina / fulvipalpis R. D." [lightblue label].

This specimen was determined and labelled by RobineauDesvoidy and can therefore be interpreted as a syntype of Pictina fulvipalpis RobineauDesvoidy, 1853: 96 97. Since this specimen appears to be the only known syntype of Pictina fulvipalpis it is herewith designated lectotype and the following label has been added: " Lectotypus / Pictina fulvipalpis / RobineauDesvoidy, 1853 / des. Stuke & Clements, 2005" [red label, printed].

Chvála & Smith (1988) interpreted this species as a "doubtful species of Myopa ." However, on the basis of the present specimen Pictina fulvipalpis RobineauDesvoidy, 1853 can now be placed as a senior synonym of Myopa extricata Collin, 1960 [syn. nov.] (see note under Phorosia pellucida, above, concerning our use of the name extricata Collin, 1960).
