Host. Cyperaceae: Scirpus sp.

Leaf mine. A very long, whitish, upper surface mine, typically descending beneath the leaf sheath. All the frass is deposited in a single blackish mass just before pupation (Ellis 2016).

Puparium. Yellowish (to reddish-brown (Spencer & Steyskal 1986)), flattened, with deep intersegmental grooves; formed within the mine.

Distribution. USA: CA, *WA; Canada: AB (Sehgal 1971), BC, QC; Europe.
