Pythochandra mindanaensis (Baker), stat. n., comb. n.

Pythamus melichari var. mindanaensis Baker, 1915: 200

Body length: male 5.9 mm.

Colour as in P. melichari but vertex with medial band extending to posterior margin and only faintly marked with brown next to eye and lora and pleura dark brown rather than yellow (Fig. 1 D).

Male pygofer (Fig. 5 A) with short dorsolateral fracture; process with a few very strong teeth over distal half. Aedeagus (Fig. 5 B, C, D, E) similar to P. melichari but with ventral keel broader with apical narrower part of shaft slightly shorter.

Material examined: Holotype: ♂, Philippines, “IIigan, Mindanao, Baker ” (NMNH).

Distribution. Philippines: Mindanao.

Remarks. This species was originally described from a single specimen (male) from “Iligan, Mindanao”. It can be distinguished from other species of the genus by the male pygofer with a very short dorsolateral fracture and ventral process with more conspicuous teeth.
