Eothenomys regulus (Thomas, 1907) . Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1906:863 [1907].
TYPE LOCALITY: Korea, Mingyong, HO mi SE Seoul .
DISTRIBUTION: Korea.
COMMENTS: Usually included in Clethrionomys rufocanus (Allen, 1940; Ellerman and Morrison-Scott, 1951; Gromov and Polyakov, 1977) but treated as a separate species by Corbet (1978c). In a careful morphological study of C. rufocanus and E. regulus from the former USSR, NE China, and Korea, Kaneko (1990) discovered E. regulus to be a Korean endemic and suggested (p. 129) "that the true geographical demarcation line between the two species lies on the western and southern boundary of the Kaima Plateau, North Korea."
