TYPE LOCALITY: Spain, Madrid Prov., Sierra de Guadarrama, near Rascafria .
DISTRIBUTION: Recorded only from Spain, Portugal, and French side of the Pyrenees (see Niethammer, 1982/, and Corbet, 1984).
SYNONYMS: dentatus .
COMMENTS: Subgenus Agricola, agrestis species group sensu Zagorodnyuk (1990) . Reviewed by Niethammer (1982/). Close relative is the Pleistocene M. brecciensis from Spain and S France (see Niethammer, 1982/). Chaline (1974) used the subgenus Iberomys, a name superceded by Agricola, for dentatus and brecciensis . Biochemical and chromosomal data reported by Millet et al. (1982), Burgos et al.
