COMMENTS: Although currently included in Dendromurinae, the morphological traits of Deomys do not fit well in that group (Rosevear, 1969), and influenced Ellerman (1941) to erect the Deomyinae to contain the genus (see the discussion in Carleton and Musser, 1984).
