TYPE LOCALITY: China, Gansu (Kansu), 60 mi SE Minchow .

DISTRIBUTION: Recorded from Gansu and Sichuan, China.

COMMENTS: This is the only extant species in the genus. The Sichuan record is reported by Wang et al (1966). Pleistocene fragments from Shanxi, Hebei, and Shandong have been referred to P. cf. bedfordi (Zheng and Li, 1990) .
