TYPE SPECIES: Mus armandvillei Jentink, 1892 .

COMMENTS: Formerly thought closely related to Mallomys, but has no affinity to that New Guinea Old Endemic, and instead is phylogenetically related to Komodomys and Pleistocene Hooijeromys, both endemics of Nusa Tenggara (Musser, 1981c). Species of Papagomys reviewed by Musser (1981 c).
