TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, W Java, Gunung Gede .

DISTRIBUTION: Endemic to montane forest in W and C Java.

SYNONYMS: fredericae, maculipectus.

COMMENTS: Reviewed and compared with other species of Niviventer by Musser (1981b). A distinctive member of the endemic Javan murine fauna (Musser, 1986; Musser and Newcomb, 1983).
