DISTRIBUTION: Known only by modern samples from Amami-oshima Isl.

COMMENTS: Impressive chromosomal distinctions between osimensis, muenninki, and a third unnamed species from Tokun-oshima Isl reported by Tsuchiya (1981), and Tsuchiya et al. (1989).
