TYPE LOCALITY: Peru, Puno Dept., drainage of Rio Inambari, Limbani, 9000 ft .

DISTRIBUTION: W and E Andean slopes of SC Peru to NW Bolivia (La Paz).

SYNONYMS: arequipae.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Akodon . Described as a subspecies of A. boliviensis; raised to specific level and another subspecies named by Myers et al. (1990).
