COMMENTS: Oryzomyine. R. J. Baker et al. (1983a) evaluated G-banded karyotypes of Nectomys with respect to other oryzomyines. Revised by Hershkovitz (1944), then including Sigmodontomys as a subgenus; Gardner and Patton (1976) urged removal of Sigmodontomys to Oryzomys .
