COMMENTS: Closedly related to Tylomys (Carleton, 1980; Hooper, 1960; Hooper and Musser, 19646; Lawlor, 1969). Tribal-level assignment unresolved—viewed as a member of neotomines ( sensu Hooper and Musser, 19646) or of an archaic clade that originated prior to differentiation of other neotomine-peromyscines (Carleton, 1980).
