NOTE: Evans (1958a: 206) considered Paragarmania to be a junior synonym of Melichares Hering. However in that publication he considered Blattisocius to be a subgenus of Melichares, and included the type species of Paragarmania in that subgenus, making Paragarmania a synonym of Blattisocius . That decision was re-stated at the genus level by Lindquist & Evans (1965: 48).
