TYPE DEPOSITORY: of L. confusus: not stated; of P. nidus: Institute of Zoology, Moldavian Academy of Sciences, Kishinau, Moldova.

TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: of L. confusus: Big Pool, Saint Agnes, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, England, on roots of rushes; of P. nidus: Pash Kany, Moldova, in nest of Apodemus agrarius [Animalia: Muridae]. NOTES: (a) Karg (1980: 348) considered Lasioseius berlesei (Oudemans) to be a senior synonym of L. confusus . We adopted the interpretation of Walter & Lindquist (1989: 2800), considering them to be distinct species; (b) some of the specimens reported as Lasioseius paucisetosus Westerboer by Lapina (1976a: 72) were suspected to be L. berlesei and L. confusus by Walter & Lindquist (1989: 2800).
