Saratus hesperus Otto & Hill 2017

Saratus hesperus Otto & Hill 2017a; Maratus sp. Whyte & Anderson 2017

Similar to other peacock spiders in many respects, the genitalia of S. hesperus males and females are quite different. Emergent instars are boldly spotted and the deep blue or purple of the fan is based on layering of the cuticle rather than scale structure. The species name, hesperus, is based on the Greek name for the Evening Star (Eσπερος).
