Asarmentose shrub, not myrmecophilous; twigs pubescent, solid. Leaflets 5, pubescent on both surfaces. Inflorescence of thyrses grouped in a terminal panicle. Fruit c. 6–8 mm diam., with golden-yellow outer layer exfoliating at maturity; calyx cupuliform, clasping fruit base.

Distribution – Tropical E Africa, from Tanzania to Mozambique southwards and to D.R. Congo westwards.
