Maruina (Aculcina) Hogue, 1973:1 . Type species: Maruina cholita Hogue, by original designation; Bravo, 2004:1 (diagnosis). Maruina (Alcucina) Bravo, 2005: 639 (misstyping).
Diagnosis for adults. Combination of the following characters: eye bridge contiguous (Fig. 4) or narrowly separated by a distance equivalent to at most 4 facet diameters (Fig. 15); wing with vein C uninterrupted on level of base of R sector, R 3 united to R 2, veins R 4, R 5, M 1 and M 3 free at base (Fig. 7 and 19); female hypogynium with the lateral bristles projecting dorsally from internal surface of the ventral wall of the plate (Fig. 14).
Distribution. Argentina, Brazil (Fig. 1), Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico.
