Fuchs (1963) described Paraphaula in the tribe Aerenicini, and the genus remained not identified by Martins (1984) and Martins & Galileo (1989). Herbert Schmid from Vienna kindly sent the photograph of the holotype of Paraphaula porosa Fuchs, allowing us to propose the present synonymy. It seems impossible to identify a genus described in an erroneus tribe, and if Paraphaula was described in Forsteriini and rather than in Aerenicini undoubtly, the identification would be possible.
