Cheloscina antennula Shih & Hendrycks, 1996

Southwest Atlantic: ex. 1013405, 5/397, [59°41’S 56°06’W], 2269 m.

Remarks: This is a very small species (about 3 mm or less), previously known only from the unique type, from the North Pacific, off the Alaskan Peninsular (53°20’N 155°16’W), from a depth of 700– 900 m. It is most likely a deep-water species preferring colder waters. The specimen recorded here seems to be this species and is thus recorded as a new record for the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic Sector. Another two small specimens, referable to Cheloscina, were also found in the Antarctic Zone, just west of the Drake Passage by the Eltanin.
