Scypholanceola aestiva (Stebbing, 1888)

Southwest Atlantic: 1013120, 22/1584, [56.442°S 35.2°W], 1131–1548 m; 1090225, 8/593, [55.4°S 25.375°W], 549 m. Southeast Pacific: 1090292, 5/282, [67°S 75.533°W], 1830 m. Southwest Pacific: 1090260, 38/8, [54.565°S 150.436°W], 3000 m.

Remarks: A relatively uncommon species, but widely distributed in all the world’s oceans except the Mediterranean Sea. It inhabits a wide range of depths (usually> 500 m) but seems to be more common in the 1000– 1500 m layer (Vinogradov et al. 1982 /96). Zeidler and De Broyer (2009) recorded it from the Southwest Pacific and Eastern Indian Ocean Sectors but not the Atlantic. Thus, the above are new records for the Southwest Atlantic and the Southeast Pacific Sectors.
