Coenosia vittata chyuluana (Emden, 1940: 169)

Holotype male seen; abdomen a little damaged.

Diagnosis. General colour brown; scutum with three broad brown vittae, the median one reaching apex of scutellum; legs with fore coxa yellow, mid and hind coxae with grey pollinosity; femora yellow on basal half and brown on apical fourth; tibiae and tarsi yellow; face velvety black; frons narrowing towards vertex; palpus brown; scutellum with basal pair of setae about 1.6 times as long as the apical pair; abdomen with a median brown vitta and paired spots; lower calypter about 1.4 times as long as the upper one; fore tibia without median seta; mid and hind coxae with long hairs; hind tibia with one anterodorsal and one posterodorsal setae.

Notes. Included in the vittata group. Unfortunately we had no material available for dissection, to elucidate the status of the two taxa C. vittata Wiedemann, 1830 and C. v. chyuluana .
