Genus Lestes Leach, 1815

Out of the 32 species of Lestes in the Neotropics, nine species occur in Colombia. Three species are common and widely distributed, mainly across the Andean and Caribbean regions: L. apollinaris, L. forficula, and L. tenuatus . As for the remaining species, L. curvatus, L. dichrostigma, L. jerrelli, and L. minutus are mainly distributed in the Orinoco region, and L. helix in the Amazon region.
