Pediacus taiwanensis Marris & Ślipiński, sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Recognisable by the combination of the following characters: body form elongate, eyes large and strongly projecting, pronotum weakly transverse with distinct, narrowly obtuse denticles, male genitalia with slender, elongate parameres.

Description. Body length 3.7–4.5 mm (n=6), strongly elongate, 3.26× longer than wide; colour red-brown to orange-brown, head and pronotum slightly darker; pubescence moderately long, pale, appressed and moderately conspicuous; surface weakly glossy. Head transverse, 1.79× wider than long; puncturation weakly impressed and sparse medially, increasing in size and density laterally with punctures separated by about their diameter; setae long and appressed, moderately conspicuous; microsculpture finely reticulate, surface moderately glossy; eyes large, strongly projecting, ocular index 0.66, finely faceted, postocular denticle absent; antennae as in Fig. 10 D, antennomere VII larger than VI and VIII. Pronotum weakly transverse, 1.10× wider than long, widest at about midpoint, sides subparallel; lateral margins weakly explanate with denticles moderately produced and narrowly obtuse; disc moderately to weakly impressed; puncturation, setation and microsculpture as for head, impunctate median strip faintly visible in basal 1/3 to absent. Elytra strongly elongate, 2.16× longer than wide, sides subparallel, epipleura moderately explanate; puncturation moderately dense but weakly impressed basally, becoming more dense and deeply impressed laterally, puncturation faint on disc; setation moderately long, appressed and conspicuous; microsculpture coriaceous. Genitalia for male as in Figs. 10 F, G, parameres elongate, narrowed basally and tapering to rounded apically; internal sac with weakly-developed tooth-like projections basally and a weakly sclerotized apical section.

Etymology. This species is named for its place of origin, Taiwan.
