Type species.— Anopercalna viettei Boulard 2008: 169 . ( John and Katherine MacArthur Forest Reserve, Region of Tanambao-Tampolo, eastern Madagascar)

Remarks.—The genus is similar to Malagasia as most of the species were at one time classified in that genus. The primary structure that was used to form the genus was the lack of opercula (Boulard 2008). Species of the genus are of moderate size with the head being as wide or slightly wider than the mesonotum and shorter than the pronotum, subcylindrical body with the abdomen being longer than the head and thorax length, the abdominal sternites are convex, the absence of opercula, highly developed and sclerotized auditory capsule, no timbal covers, and hyaline wings without infuscation (Boulard 2008).

Distribution.—The genus is restricted to Madagascar (Metcalf 1963b; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013).
