Kongota handlirschi (Distant, 1897)
Poecilopsaltria handlirschi Distant 1897: 282 . (Madagascar)
Kongota malgadessica Boulard 1996: 97 . (22 km north of Ambovombé, south Madagascar)
Remarks.—The head being shorter than the pronotum without the pronotal collar, anterior head not produced frontally, transverse posterior postclypeus, proximal fore wing costal margin prominently dilated and arched, and the lateral pronotum lacking a spine-like extension can be used to distinguish the species from other Madagascar platypleurines.
Distribution.—The species is only known from Madagascar (Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013). Distant (1897) had no specific locality information other than Madagascar. Boulard (1996) reported specimens from 22 km north of Ambovombé, Ifotaka 49 km north of Ambovombé, Tranora, 40 km east of Ampanihy, and Amboasary, Berenty all in southern Madagascar.
