Type locality: ‘ Panama, Gulf of Papagayo, and San Blas; in from four to eleven fathoms’.

Label locality: ‘ Panama’.

Type material: Lectotype NHMUK 1844.6.7.82/1 and 2 paralectotypes NHMUK 1844.6.7.82/2-3 (E. Belcher collection). Indirect lectotype selection by inference of holotype (Cernohorsky, 1969: 221).

Remarks: ‘San Blas, Mexico’ designated as type locality by Bratcher & Cernohorsky (1987: 130).
