Holotype male of Harnischia simantocedea Sasa, Suzuki et Sakai (NSM no. 358: 28), Tombo Koen, on the shore of Shimonto River, 25.iv.1998, sweep net, H. Suzuki. INDIA: Holotype male of Cladopelma indicum Bhattacharyay, Dutta et Chaudhuri (EB no. 138), Burdwan: Damodar River, 8.vii.1984, D.K. Guha.
Diagnostic characters: The species can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: The tergite IX produced posteriorly with lateral shoulders covered long setae; anal point with a mid ridge bearing short setae laterally and covered by microtrichia; and the superior volsella finger-like, covered by microtrichia and bearing 1–2 terminal setae.
Distribution: The species is widespread in Holarctic and Sino-Indian regions. It was collected by sweep net and light trap in China.
Remarks: We re-examined the holotype of Cladopelma indicum Bhattacharyay, Dutta et Chaudhuri and found some omissions and errors in original description (Bhattacharyay et al. 1985). Some characters should thus be added or corrected as: Wing length 1.18 mm; brachiolum with 2 setae; R4+5 with 2 setae apically; CR 1.21; mid leg with 12 sensilla chaetica; LR 1.88; anal point 85 Μm long; base of anal point shoulder-like without projection. Based on the shape of the hypopygium (figs 7–8) with the base of the anal point shoulder-like and without projection, the setae and microtrichia on the anal point, and the elongate, curved and pointed gonostylus, we consider the species to be a synonym of C. edwardsi .
Re-examination of the holotypes of Cryptotendipes inawaabeus Sasa, Kitami et Suzuki, Harnischia daitoheia Sasa et Suzuki, H. ginzandeeus Sasa et Suzuki, H. inadeeus Sasa, Kitami et Suzuki, H. sibacedea Sasa, Sumita et Suzuki, H. simantocedea Sasa, Suzuki et Sakai, showed that all are junior synonyms of C. edwardsi .
