Acanthohoplites aschiltaensis var. subangulata Luppov, 1961
The subspecies is based on two, well-preserved, acanthohoplitids from the southwest termination of the Gissar Range, Uzbekistan (Luppov 1961: pl. I figs 2a–в, 3a–в). The species is broadly similar to Acanthohoplites aschiltaensis but differs by feebly but distinctive bituberculate primary ribs in the juvenile, a compressed quadratic whorl section with a flattened venter during the growth, and fine ribs in the adult. As such, it better conforms to Hypacanthoplites . The individual figured by Kvantaliani (1971: pl. VIII figs 2a–e, 3a–e) compares to with Hypacanthoplites subangulata while that of Khalilov (1988: pl. XI fig. 4) is of doubtful identification.
