Material examined. NHM-Acc. No. 2136: 1 nearly matured shell (ewh 1.375, wh 5.500, h 23.4, diam. maj. 16.1, aph 11.6, apw 9.2). Gorge in granite above Yangtsa, Mekong Valley 2133–2286 m a.s.l., Zool. Survey of India, Ind. Mus.. NHM-1912.6.27.65 Reg.: 1 fms. Mekong, Tibet. Det. T.C. Yen. NHM-1923.5.24.1-16 Reg.: Paratypes. 5 juveniles, one nearly matured, and 11 fmss (all measured). Distribution. Yunnan (type locality).
Type locality. Gorge of Mekong River above Yangtse.
Diagnosis. Shell bandless; not striate. Aperture without angular tubercle. Most swollen part at body whorl. With 5.125–6.000 whorls; height 22.7–26.0 (Annandale, 1923), diam. maj. 12.1–16.1.
Re-description of shell. Cylindrical-conic; apex not protruded. Most swollen part at body whorl. Shell dextral; thin; solid; opaque; glossy; with 5.125–5.750–6.000 whorls. Apical whorls differently tinted. Whorls not speckled; not spirally grooved; not shouldered; flattened. Embryonic shell smooth; polished; with 1.250–1.472–1.625 whorls. Postnuclear whorls smooth. Suture normal, without narrow defined zone on beneath whorl. Last whorl gradually ascending towards aperture; rounded at periphery; without smoothed spiral peripheral depression nor rugate region. Shell 22.7–23.6–25.0 high; 12.1–13.6–15.0 in diam. maj. Height/width ratio 1.57–1.74–1.89. Aperture completely attached to body whorl; ovate; not adnate; almost vertical; not armed; without angular tubercle; 10.2–10.8–11.5 high; 6.9–8.1–8.5 wide. Ratio of shell height to aperture height 2.06–2.18–2.31. Peristome reflexed, without distinct cuff; expanded; sharp. Parietal callus more or less distinct. Columellar margin reflexed. Umbilicus narrowly open. Shell multicoloured; first 3–4 whorls semitransparent and in reddish brown, followed whorls whitish, thickened and opaque; aperture dirty white; not striate; not brightly banded; spirally bandless.
