Pentatrachyphloeus nanus (Fåhraeus, 1871), comb. n.

Type locality. Caffraria [South Africa].

Type material. Lectotype (here designated): 1 spec. (NHRS): ‘Caffraria. [p] / I. Vahlb. [p] / Typus [red label, p] / Trachyphloeus nanus Bhn. Remarks. Fåhraeus (1871) described this species from “Caffraria”, but Wahlberg did not specify a more precise locality nor the number of specimens he had at his disposal. The lectotype is a well preserved specimen (only the right antenna and right middle leg are missing), 1.63 mm long. This species shows several distinct morphological differences from the Palaearctic genus Trachyphloeus, and the states of these characters are identical to those of type species of Pentatrachyphloeus Voss, 1974 (see below). We therefore transfer this species to Pentatrachyphloeus as the second species of this South African genus.
