35. Gonatopus bellicosus Olmi, Copeland & van Noort, sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Apterous ♀ of Gonatopus with palpal formula 6/3; pronotum crossed by strong transverse furrow; metanotum about coplanar to mesoscutellum (Fig. 192B); metapectal-propodeal disc brown-black, with disc slightly humped (Fig. 189A); enlarged claw with apex very broad (Fig. 191A) and one big subdistal tooth; protarsomere 5 with one short row of lamellae (Fig. 191A).

Description. ♀ (Figs 186D, 188, 189A). Apterous; body length 3.7 mm. Head brown-black, except mandible testaceous and one ferruginous longitudinal stripe between antennal toruli; antenna brown (antennomere 10 missing); mesosoma brown-black, except mesoscutum testaceous; metasoma brown; legs brown, except tarsi, part of procoxa and protrochanter testaceous.Antenna clavate; antennomeres in following proportions: 11:6:25:16:13:12:9:8:7 (antennomere 10 missing in holotype). Head (Fig. 188D) excavated, dull, granulate; frontal line complete; occipital carina absent; POL = 1; OL = 2.5; OOL = 9; greatest breadth of lateral ocelli longer than POL (2:1). Palpal for-mula 6/3. Pronotum shiny, finely punctate, unsculptured among punctures, crossed by strong transverse furrow. Mesoscutum shiny, unsculptured, with two strong lateral pointed apophyses (Figs 188B, 192A). Mesoscutellum shiny, flat. Metanotum about coplanar to mesoscutellum (Figs 188C, 192B). Metapectal-propodeal disc swollen, shiny, finely punctate, unsculptured among punctures; propodeal declivity transversely striate. Mesopleuron shiny, unsculptured. Metapleuron transversely striate. Meso-metapleural suture distinct and complete. Protarsomeres in following proportions: 19:3:7:20:34. Enlarged claw (Fig. 191A) with apex very broad, one big subdistal tooth and one row of eight lamellae + two bristles. Protarsomere 5 (Fig. 191A) with one row of 10 lamellae situated in distal half of protarsomere 5; apex with at least 25 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.

Material examined. Type: ♀ holotype (CASTYPE19451): MADAGASCAR: Antsiranana, Marojejy National Park, Antranohofa, 26.6 km 31° NNE Andapa, 10.7 km 318° NW Manantenina, 14°26.36’S 49°44.36’E, 1325 m, 18.XI.2003, on low vegetation, montane rainforest, B.L. Fisher leg. (CAS).

Distribution. Madagascar.

Etymology. The species is named bellicosus (Latin adjective; = aggressive), because of its aggressive aspect.
