Apoaphelopus niassensis Olmi 2007b: 230 .
Description. ♂. Fully winged; length 1.1–1.3 mm. Head brown-testaceous, except mandible testaceous; antenna testaceous; mesosoma and metasoma testaceous-darkened; legs yellow-testaceous. Antenna filiform, very slender and long, shorter than body; antennomeres in following proportions: 7:3:2.5:3:3.5:4:3.5:3.5:3:5. Head convex, subspheroidal, dull, granulate, finely setose; occiput very concave, unsculptured; frontal line absent; central area of frons with slight short median longitudinal furrow; occipital carina complete; POL = 3; OL = 1.5; OOL = 2; minimum distance from eye to occipital carina about as long as OL; TL = 2.5; posterior ocelli touching occipital carina; temple very long, shorter than eye (2.5:5); mandible with one tooth. Mesoscutum, mesoscutellum and metanotum shiny, completely unsculptured. Notauli absent. Epicnemium exposed. Metapectal-propodeal disc and propodeal declivity shiny, completely unsculptured. Meso- and metapleuron shiny, unsculptured. In specimens from South Africa, 33°56.232’S 18°57.711’E, meso- and metapleuron rugose. Forewing without pterostigma, without costal cell, with costal vein very thick; 2r-rs&Rs vein present and not reaching margin of forewing; other veins of forewing absent, veins M and Cu being marked by dark stripes. Hind wing with costal vein absent, with two dark longitudinal median stripes. Basivolsella (Fig. 264E) with distal process parallel to distivolsella. Palpi absent. Tibial spurs 1/1/2.
