Ecology: in primary or secondary forest, thickets or dry shrubby heath forest (Malay: “kerangas”); on coral sand, sandy loam and limestone; andesite breccia; elevation: 1–750 m (Hoffmann 2006).

Distribution: Java, south-eastern Sulawesi (Binongko Island), Lesser Sunda Islands, Moluccas (Ambon, Manipa Island) (Hoffmann 2006).
