Current status: Synonym of Conognatha (Pithiscus) macleayi (Donovan, 1825) (Moore & Lander 2010) .
Comments: The original publication indicates that the type material of this species is from “Brasilia; ad serra da Lapa un provincial Minas Geraës a D. Ménétriés lecta”. The lectotype housed at the MZHF is labelled as “Brasilia. Min. Geraës” (Ménétriés leg.).
Rothkirch (1912) listed Conognatha carinata (Mannerheim) and C. vulnerata (Perty) as synonyms of C. macleayi (Donovan) . C. vulnerata was revalidated, including C. carinata as its junior synonym by Hoscheck (1934). C. vulnerata (including its synonym C. carinata) was synonymized under C. macleayi by Moore & Lander (2010).
