Cydnus aterrimus (Forster)

Type data. Syntypes of Cimex aterrimus Forster: Hispania [= Spain], ad fretum Gaditanum [= Golfo de Cádiz] (not located).

Distribution. A Palaearctic species introduced to the USA, West Indies and the Republic of South Africa (Cape of Good Hope), where it has become established. It was described in RSA as Brachypelta elevata by Uhler (1861), but then it was synonymized with C. aterrimus by Lethierry & Severin (1893).
