TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Nodoa (i.e. Danzhou), alt. 450 m, 28April 1922, F. A. McClure 2769 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 9326) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00066487 image!, A 00066488 image!, NY 00107378 image!) .

The name Casearia villilimba Merr. was validly published with a gathering “ McClure 9326 ” designated as the type (Merrill, 1932). However, the collecting number on the lable of the syntype specimen (A 00066487) is 2769, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 9326. Therefore, the erroneous collecting number in the designation of type is to be corrected.
