Dipoena peruensis Levi, 1963: 157, figs. 131–132 (Female holotype from Upper Pachitea River, Pasco, Peru; 21.VII.1920; deposited in the American Museum of Natural History, New York, not examined); Platnick, 2013.
Diagnosis. The male palp of Dipoena peruensis resembles that of Dipoena cornuta Chickering, 1943 (see Levi, 1963: 171, fig. 222) in the conductor projected and the median apophysis large (Fig. 31) and carapace ringed along ventral margin (Fig. 33), but differs in the pattern and shape of the median apophysis pointed (Fig. 31).
Description. Male (MCN 48940): Total length 2.39. Carapace length 1.17, width 0.86. Clypeus height 0.71. Sternum length 0.52, width 0.50. Abdomen length 1.19, width 0.92, height 0.88. Leg formula I/IV/II/III; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 0.88/0.71/0.52/0.81; patellae + tibiae 0.92/0.73/0.58/0.88; metatarsi + tarsi 0.92/0.75/ 0.67/0.92; total 2.72/2.19/1.77/2.61. Eye diameter and interdistance: AME 0.12, ALE 0.07, PME 0.07 and PLE 0.07; AME–AME 0.10, AME–ALE 0.06, PME–PME 0.08, PME–PLE 0.08. Eyes (Fig. 32) margined with black. Carapace high (Fig. 33), with grooves, dark brown, nearly black, mainly at the median portion (Fig. 32). Carapace projecting above the clypeus, highest in thoracic region (Fig. 33). Sternum, labium and endites brown. Coxae pale yellow. Legs yellow, with a black line along all articles. Abdomen oval (Fig. 32), dark brown. Spinnerets dark brown.
Female. Described by Levi (1963: 157; figs. 131–132).
Remarks. Males and females were collected together in São Paulo, Brazil.
Material examined. BRAZIL. São Paulo: Santa Rita do Passa Quatro (21º43’S; 47º35’W), 19–24.III.2002, S. C. Dias col., one male (MCN 44943); Equipe Biota col., one male, one female (MCN 48940); one female (MCN 48941).
Distribution. Peru (Pasco) and Brazil (São Paulo).
