Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Uttar Pradesh: Kumaun, 2100 m, Strachey & Winterbottom 12 (JE, isolectotype LE00015482 digital image).

Distribution: —U Ganga & Indus.

Note: — This species is similar to Epilobium amurense, but can be distinguished by its clavate stigma. We have seen photo of the lectotype in BM (BM000944623) .
