= Epilobium laetum Wallich (1832: 216), nomen nudum. ≡ Epilobium hirsutum L. var. laetum Wall. ex C.B. Clarke (1879: 584) .
Lectotype (designated by Chen et al. 1992):— INDIA. Uttar Pradesh: Kumaun, N. Wallich 6329B (K001123576!).
= Epilobium sericeum Benth. in Wallich (1832: 216), nomen nudum. ≡ Epilobium hirsutum L. var. sericeum Benth. ex C.B. Clarke (1879: 584) .
Lectotype (designated by Chen et al. 1992):— INDIA. Himachal Pradesh: Sirmur, N. Wallich 6325 (K000913976!).
Distribution: —N Pakistan, Jammu & Kashmir, U Ganga & Indus, W Nepal, S Hengduan, Tangut, N Hengduan.
Note: — Epilobium hirsutum maybe the most widespread species in Eurasia, and is extremely variable in degree of pubescence (Chen et al. 1992).
Chen et al. (1992) stated that the “ holotype ” of E. hirsutum L. var. laetum (N. Wallich 6329B) is deposited in K. However, in the protologue, Clarke (1879) cited multiple gatherings for this name, all of which should be considered as the syntypes. According to Art. 9.1 and 9.10, the type status of E. hirsutum L. var. laetum is corrected in this study. For E. hirsutum var. sericeum, Chen et al. (1992) noted that N. Wallich 6325 (K000913976) in K is the “ holotype ”. However, multiple sheets of this specimen are present in K. According by Art 9.1 and 9.10, this holotype status should be corrected as the lectotype.
