Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Sikkim: Lachen, 3650 m, 16 July 1849, Hooker s.n. (K000913973!, isolectotype JE).

Distribution: — Sikkim & Darjeeling, S Hengduan, U Irrawaddy.

Note: — Epilobium clarkeanum was previously recorded only by two specimens in Sikkim and Myanmar (Raven 1962a). Then it was found in Yunnan province, China (Chen et al. 1992). Raven (1962a) noted that E. clarkeanum maybe related to the Alpinae group of Haussknecht (1884).
