Lectotype (designated by Chen et al. 1992):— PHILIPPINES. Benguet: at Pauai, on damp soil at 2040 m, 8 November 1905, Merrill 4744 (K001057560!).
Distribution: —S Hengduan, N Hengduan.
Note: — Epilobium platystigmatosum, E. tibetanum, E. sinense, and E. cylindricum are morphologically similar (Chen et al. 1992). The first one can be distinguished from the latter three species by its shorter leaves and less toothed margin.
