1.4. Chamaenerion speciosum (Decne.) Hoch & Gandhi.

≡ Epilobium speciosum Decne. ≡ Epilobium latifolium L. subsp. speciosum (Decne.) Raven (1962a: 349) . ≡ Chamerion speciosum (Decne.) Holub (1972: 86) . Type:— INDIA. Himachal Pradesh: near Yurpo, 3800m, 1830–1831, V. Jacquemont 1739 (P, G, K000913765!)

Distribution: —L Yarlung Zangbo, W Nepal.

Note: —This species may be a hybridization between Chamaenerion angustifolium and C. conspersum (Chen et al. 1992) . More analyses are needed to verify this speculation.

Raven (1962a) noted that the holotype of this species was deposited in P, but he did not see this type. Because we are not sure whether there were duplicate type materials in P, according to ICN Art. 9.1 we cannot take the specimen cited by Raven (1962a) as “ holotype ” at least under the current situation, and here leave this issue open for further perusal.
