Genus Sandalodesmus Silvestri, 1902
Type species: Sandalodesmus salvadorii (Silvestri, 1895: 4, fig. 3), designated herein in accordance with ICZN Art.67.2. and Art.69.1., since the particular status of S. bertonii Silvestri, 1902 is complex (see Hoffman 1982: 247).
Diagnosis: Males of Sandalodesmus differ from those of Oncoleptodesmus (the only other member of the tribe) by the presence of only two macroseatae on dorsal side of gonocoxae (vs. several ones in Oncoleptodesmus) and absence (vs. presence) of spinulations associated with the lateral margin of the acropodite process (except in S. repandus (Schubart, 1958)) (modified from Hoffman 1982).
