Genus Fusinus Rafinesque, 1815

Type species: Murex colus Linnaeus, 1758, Recent, Indo-West Pacific, by monotypy.

Although Vermeij & Snyder (2018: 61) made clear that there are no species of Fusinus s.s. in the New World and reclassified in other genera most of the larger New World species formerly placed in Fusinus, they did not mention two of the Guianan species. We have retained those two species in Fusinus s.l. for lack of a more appropriate genus in which to place them.
