Sarcophaga hardyi Johnston and Tiegs, 1922

Morphological characters. Gena with setulae only or mostly yellow/white. Generally, occiput with setulae only yellow/white. However, some males with at least one row of black setulae behind the ocular setae, with setulae yellow/white ventrally. Prescutellar acrostichal setae present in females, but either absent or present in males. Apical scutellar setae present in males, but either absent or present in females. Proepisternum uniformly setulose with setulae either only yellow/white or with a mix of black and yellow/white. Males with long setulae on the hind tibia. 1st and 2nd abdominal sternites with setulae either only yellow/white or only black. Females with short setulae on the 1st and 2nd abdominal sternites. Body length 10–15 mm.

Geographical distribution. Australia (Tasmania, Victoria)—AUSTRALASIAN/OCEANIAN.

Biology. Sarcophaga assimilis has been caught by TP at a dead snake.
